Summary

Anticipating the risks of summer 2026 for a client and its sector, by cross-checking weather forecasts, Google searches and Reddit conversations.

Context

After a fire or a flood, people look for help once the damage is done, never before. A client whose business depends on these events asked us to anticipate the coming season, so it could be visible where demand was about to rise, before it rose.

Method

With GenSight, our listening technology, we analysed 2,022 Google search suggestions, 245 questions asked on Google and the Reddit testimonies on the subject, between January and June 2026. We cross-checked them, department by department, with forecasts from Météo-France, Copernicus, BRGM, ONF and NOAA.

What the report called

Delivered before summer began, the report called:

  • a summer ranked among the hottest 20% on record, more marked around the Mediterranean and in Corsica
  • early wildfires from June along the Mediterranean arc, with nine departments at top priority, including the Gard
  • violent storms in August

37.8°C
In Angoulême on May 28, the earliest heatwave ever measured

Searches were concentrated in the big cities, while the risk lay elsewhere. The report proposed five actions to be there before demand, including:

  • publishing content on the at-risk departments before search peaks
  • preparing Google Ads campaigns that can go live within 24 hours of a Météo-France alert
  • showing clear prices and making insurance steps easier

What happened

June 24, 2026 became the hottest day ever measured in France, with up to 43.8°C recorded in Vendée and the Landes.

The Gard was then placed on very severe fire risk several times.

Decisions, not hunches: the signals were readable before summer.
